An unforgettable holiday in a areal mountain barn in Valvestino, inside Brescia’s Upper Lake Garda Park. It’s the experience offered by Cima Rest barns, once the houses, barns, and cowsheds of “malghesi” (mountain farmers) and now cozy holiday homes.
These traditional thatched structures at 1200 m of altitude represent a unique phenomenon in the Brescia area.
Once the dwelling and farm of local farmers, today these three-level houses are equipped with kitchen, bathroom, ample living room, heating, and can sleep up to 6-8 people. They can be rented for the weekend or the week for a relaxing stay in the mountains. You will also have the opportunity to hike or ride your mountain bike, if you so feel inclined. Valvestino is also known for its traditional products. We recommend Tombea cheese, which has obtained the PAT recognition (Traditional Agrogastronomic product) and is a Slow Food Presidium.
One of the barns hosts Valvestino Ethnographic Museum. Also, don’t miss a visit to Cima Rest Astronomical Observatory, open to the public from May to September. Visits are only available upon reservation (for information, click here).
Cima Rest is in the village of Magasa. For information and reservations, tel. +39 0365 74067 – +39 333 4850606 (9am – 8pm from April to October every day, from November to March only on weekends). Find more information on www.visitvalvestino.it.
