Brescia’s Restaurants and Pastry shops on food guides

Brescia and its province are widely recognised as a land of great culinary tradition and artistry. This year as well, several restaurants and pastry shops were listed in the most accredited national food guides. Here they are.

Gambero Rosso – Guida ristoranti d’Italia 2021

From the city to Lake Garda. From Franciacorta to Brescia’s plain. Several restaurants across the province are included in the 2021 edition of Gambero Rosso, the Italian restaurant guide. Tied for first, with three forks each, are Miramonti L’Altro in Concesio, the reign of Chef Philippe Léveillé, and Lido 84 in Gardone Riviera, led by Chef Riccardo Camanini.

Among the new entries are Il Colmetto in Rodengo Saiano which obtained two forks. Sedicesimo Secolo in Orzinuovi, Q.B. Duepuntuzero in Salò, and Tancredi in Sirmione move from one star to two stars.

In the other categories, Brescia has also shined with 8 trattorias and 5 bistros mentioned.

Michelin Guide 2021

The prestigious Michelin Guide confirms last year’s recognitions: there are 59 awarded restaurants in Lombardy, the Italian region with the most stars. Among these, there are 13 Brescian restaurants:

  • 2 Michelin stars: Miramonti L’Altro (Concesio) and Villa Feltrinelli (Gargnano);
  • 1 Michelin star: Al Gambero (Calvisano), Due Colombe (Corte Franca), Esplanade (Desenzano del Garda), Da Nadia (Erbusco), Lido 84 (Gardone Riviera), Villa Giulia and La Tortuga (both in Gargnano), Capriccio (Manerba), Sedicesimo Secolo (Orzinuovi), Leon d’Oro (Pralboino), La Rucola 2.0 (Sirmione).

In addition, there are 5 Bib Gourmand, restaurants with the best price-quality value, with complete menus under € 35:

The province of Brescia has achieved pastry stardom, as confirmed by the Gambero Rosso guide dedicated to pastry chefs and pastry shops:

  • Three golden cakes: Iginio Massari’s Pasticceria Veneto, Brescia – This award was created specifically to honour the Brescian master’s undisputed genius;
  • Three cakes: Dolce Reale (Montichiari) and Pasticceria Roberto (Erbusco);
  • Two cakes: Sirani (Bagnolo Mella), Bedussi (Brescia), Garzoni (Brescia), Piccinelli (Brescia), San Carlo (Brescia), FN Nazzari (Iseo), Chantilly (Lumezzane), Creazioni (Manerba), Di Novo (Manerba), Andreoletti (Offlaga);
  • One cake: L’Elite in Cologne

The cherry on the pie is the Best Pastry Chef 2021 award won by Federica D’Alpaos, chef at Ristorante Lido 84 in Gardone Riviera.

One important recognition to the best Italian osterias comes from Slow Food, the international association whose goal is to promote a sustainable, environmentally-friendly approach to food.
