The experience

The Lugana wine produced by the Girelli brothers is a world champion. The bottles contain pure Turbiana cepage; the labels report an ancient, exotic name: Orestilla.
This means passion for the land, a family legacy, an idea of wine that looks forward and experiments, and a winery created according to the criteria of bio-architecture and surrounded by vineyards, roses, and lavender. The Girelli family is all this, and much more. A four-generation wine making family, they are happy to open their doors to visitors who are motivated and anxious to appreciate the special elements that Montonale’s terroir adds to their wine.
Francesca will first take us to see the vineyard. Then, we will move around the wine-making facility with steel drums, oak barrels, and clay containers.
We will learn how wine is produced: white, red, and sparkling, and the technique used to age it in the barrels.
Finally, we will gather in the tasting room overlooking the vineyards to enjoy an interesting guided “vertical tasting” of Lugana: 3 years for each type, 6 wines in total. These prestigious white wines – the result of passion, which creates, and time, which refines -, will be served with delicious cured meats, cheese, and crunchy hand-made grissini.
