From the skilled hands of fishermen to goal nets.

The experience

The history of net making in Montisola is as old as the art of fishing. From necessary tool for every fisherman to sophisticated product, these nets are the result of modern technology combined with century-old passed-on knowledge. Today, Montisola nets go well beyond Lake Iseo. They travel the world and stand out in many international sports events: the football fields where the World Cup is played, Roland Garros which hosts the French Open, and the mayor volleyball and basketball league tournaments.
Since the 1800s, technological development in Monteisola has enabled a fast and consistent increase in net production. Today, these nets are used in the most different sectors: from commercial fishing to agriculture, from construction to the spotlights of sports events. Let’s not forget the beautiful and relaxing hammocks that are a staple of gardens and terraces.
With Daniela, a veteran net manufacturer, we will experience the uniqueness of this ancient craft and we will test our manual skills handling thread and needle. We start with the visit of the fascinating museum which narrates the history of this region, strongly intertwined with nets and wefts, and continue with the creation of an object made of rope and net following the traditional method.
The experience includes an overview of the modern production model, the right combination of manual ability and technology. Ready, go: let’s all get caught in the net!
